Elverson Fire Company was organized in July 1919 and by August had taken delivery on a Model T Chemical Truck.

On July 16, 1920 our charter was granted. In 1921 the company had bought a lot of ground and in 1922 built a 25’ x 50’ frame building to house the Ford and a newly acquired 1922 Hahn Pumper.

In 1924 we refurbed the Model T with a Cadillac chassis and this was in service until 1936 when it was replaced with a 1936 Ford Pumper. Our first ambulance, a 1934 Buick, was placed in service May of 1948.

By 1950 we had out-grown our building and started construction on our present day hall, this was completed in 1955. 1955 also saw the addition of two-way radios and by this time we had updated our ambulance to a 1953 Cadillac.

By 1958 we were in need of a better fire truck and we bought a John Beam Pumper. This was housed Sept 13, 1958.

In July 1961, we took delivery of our first NEW ambulance, an International Travelall. In October 1963, we bought our John Beam –Dodge Power Wagon. 1966 also saw a new addition on our hall and in 1967 we traded our International ambulance on a new Pontiac –Superior.

In 1970 we ordered our Ford Imperial 2000 gallon tanker. Elverson joined the Chester County Fire Board in July of 1971. In June of 1972 Hurricane Agnes hit our area and our company saw extensive service in our neighboring communities helping with the flood damage. We received a certificate of Commendation from the State House of Representatives for this service.

January of 1974 saw another major advance in our service to the community by the addition of a second ambulance; a 1974 Chevrolet Modulance. Because of this extra piece of equipment we added three more bays to the engine room. completing the work in December of 1975.

In November of 1976 we replaced the Pontiac ambulance with a Chevrolet Superior ambulance. Seeing the need for a better piece of fire apparatus a committee was formed on April24, of 1978. This resulted in the purchase of a Mack CF Pumper.

In February of 1980 the 1976 Chevy ambulance was replaced with a new Ford Yankee ambulance. The new CF Mack was placed in service on May 8, 1980 at 9:45 pm.
