Busy Start To The Weekend For TVFD Volunteers

Call #1 at 7:49am Friday, TVFD and EMS were dispatched to an automobile accident at Quarry Road in Caernarvon Berks. Rescue 69’s crew assisted EMS with a 2 vehicle accident, controlling vehicle hazards and removing roadway debris. The drivers did not require transport to the hospital, and TVFD returned available.

Units cleared at 8:25am.

Call #2 at 1:52pm, TVFD was dispatched to a trash fire on Red Hill Road in Elverson. Engine 69-1 arrived to find a small pile of debris on fire in the roadway after a police issue. Crews extinguished the smoldering trash and cleared the scene.

Units returned at 2:15pm.

Call #3 at 4:37pm, TVFD was dispatched for an engine to assist Station 48 (Glenmoore) at an automobile accident on Manor Road in West Nantmeal. Chief 48 (Seese) arrived finding a one vehicle accident partially into a house. After assessing the scene and determing additional resources weren’t needed, Chief 48 cancelled the additional engine’s response. Engine 69-1 returned available.

TVFD cleared at 4:50pm.

Call #4 at 4:05am Saturday morning, TVFD and EMS were dispatched to an automobile accident on Ridge Road in Warwick. Units arrived on location confirming a one vehicle accident into a tree. The driver was semi responsive and confined to the vehicle. Rescue 69’s crew secured vehicle hazards and removed the driver’s side door to access the patient. The crew assisted EMS with transferring the patient to the ambulance for transport to a local trauma center, and stood by until cleared by State Police.

Units cleared at 4:57am.

Call #5 at 5:48am, TVFD and mutual aid units were dispatched to a house fire on Main Street in Elverson. Deputy 69 (Belgarde) arrived confirming smoke from the second floor of a single home. Ladder 69’s crew checked the structure finding an electrical issue extending to an interior wall. TVFD overhauled the area and extinguished smoldering material with the assistance of Station 34 & 24 crews (Churchtown/Geigertown FC). No extension was found and the scene was turned over to the utility company and homeowner.

Units cleared at 6:51am.

At 8am Saturday, after handling several overnight emergency calls, TVFD members gathered at the firehouse to conclude a week long refresher training class on apparatus driver/operator skills. Members completed a written exam and a practical “obstacle course” test set up by Chester County DES instructors.

While completing this training, the department was dispatched to call #6 in 24 hours to assist Station 34 (Churchtown FC) at a possible building fire on Turkey Hill Road in Caernavon Lancaster. Chief 69 (Brooks) arrived and was advised by Command 34 of a small electrical fire contained by Churchtown units. Mutual aid units were cancelled and TVFD returned available.
